La Stoppa's Malvasia Frizzante is a bright, sparkling white wine made from 100% Malvasia grapes. While "natural" winemaker Elena Pantaleoni also produces some of Emilia-Romagna's biggest and most collectible red wines (notably, her Stoppa and Macchiona), this low-alcohol white pays homage to local viticulture, where farmers have made similar wines as long as anyone can remember. This is the type of wine you might be offered if you were the guest in the home in the countryside outside Parma, Reggio Emilia, or Modena. A perfect dessert and/or end-of-the-meal wine, ideal for opening on the spur of the moment when a unexpected guest arrives.
