Stanislao Radikon is a member of a growing movement of naturalist winemakers who have abandoned stainless steel, new oak, and – most significantly – the addition of sulfur dioxide to stabilize their wines. His 1999 Collio "Oslavje" is named after the famous Oslavia subzone of the appellation where the sandy soils provide excellent drainage (thus stressing the vines and causing them to produce superior fruit). This remarkably long-lived white wine is full-bodied and well-structured, in many ways more like a red than a white.
