Winemaker Massimo Carpini grows just five hectares of Prugnolo Gentile (the local name for Sangiovese) east of the town of Montepulciano in southeastern Tuscany. A skilled enologist, Carpini’s attentive work in the cellar makes his Il Sentiero among the best rossos we’ve tasted. He selects some of the best fruit reflecting the various microclimates on his estate, vinifies it in stainless steel and ages in used French oak.
